Accountant Resume Example

An accountant resume that proves what finance managers care about most - accuracy and deadlines - with the software and compliance experience they search for.

Make routine accounting work sound like results

Most accountants do similar tasks, so the way you describe them sets you apart. Rather than 'Responsible for GST filing', write 'Filed monthly GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for 3 years with no late fees or notices'. Accuracy and timeliness are what finance managers worry about, so prove them.

Look for numbers in your work: the size of the books you manage, how many days your monthly close takes, money recovered through reconciliations, or the number of clients you handle.

List your qualifications and software clearly

Finance recruiters filter by qualification and software, so make both easy to find. Add CA Inter, CMA Inter or ACCA papers cleared in the certifications section with the year, and name each accounting package rather than writing 'accounting software'.

If you're preparing for your CA or CMA finals, say so in your summary - for example 'CA Final candidate (May 2027)'. Many firms value candidates who are still progressing in their qualification.

Frequently asked questions

Should I mention CA Inter if I haven't finished CA?

Yes. Clearing CA Intermediate shows strong technical knowledge and is valued for accountant and senior accountant roles. Mention the groups cleared and the year.

What's the best resume format for an accountant?

A traditional, single-column layout such as Classic. Finance employers prefer a clean, conservative look, and it reads reliably in applicant tracking systems.
