Business Analyst Resume Example

A business analyst resume that connects requirements and process maps to business results, with the domain knowledge and tools hiring managers search for.

Show the business result, not just the documents

Writing BRDs and user stories is the job; employers want to know what happened because of them. Tie your work to outcomes such as fewer defects, faster processes, lower costs or a successful launch.

For example, 'Mapped the loan disbursal process and proposed automation that cut turnaround from 5 days to 2' shows analysis, recommendation and impact in a single line.

Domain knowledge is your edge

Business analysts are often hired for what they know about an industry. Put your domain in your headline - banking, insurance, supply chain or healthcare - and use its vocabulary in your bullets, such as UPI, KYC, claims or inventory.

If you're moving into a BA role from development, testing or operations, highlight the requirement work you've already done: clarifying user stories, writing test cases from requirements or running UAT with users.

Frequently asked questions

Do business analysts need SQL on their resume?

It's increasingly expected. Even basic SQL for validating data and answering stakeholder questions makes you more effective, and it appears in many BA job descriptions.

Is a certification like ECBA or CCBA necessary?

Not necessary, but helpful - especially for career changers, and when applying to large IT services firms and banks, which often filter for them.
