Graphic Designer Resume Example

A graphic designer resume with just enough personality: a portfolio link up top, the kinds of work you do, and results that show your designs work.

Your resume is the trailer, your portfolio is the film

For design roles, the portfolio does most of the persuading, and the resume's job is to get it opened. Put the link in your header, check it works well on a phone, and lead the portfolio with your three strongest, most relevant projects.

Tailor both to the job. A packaging role wants print and production work; a social media role wants campaigns and motion. Reorder your projects rather than building a new portfolio each time.

Show what your designs achieved

Design is judged on taste but hired for results. Where you can, connect your work to an outcome: reach and engagement for social creatives, click-through for ads and emails, or sales after a packaging refresh.

If you don't have numbers, describe the scope and constraints instead: 'Designed a complete identity for a new café chain - logo, menus, signage and packaging - in 3 weeks'.

Frequently asked questions

Should a graphic designer use a creative resume template?

A little personality helps, but readability comes first. A clean sidebar or split layout with one accent colour shows design sense without getting in the way, and still works with applicant tracking systems.

How many portfolio pieces should I link to?

Quality beats quantity: 6-10 strong projects is plenty. Add a short note to each about the brief, your role and the result.
